Horse Racing Tips Today – Saturday 2nd November 2019
The bet365 Handicap Chase is the first race of real note from Wetherby. This 2m3½f chase could be run at a decent pace as many of the nine horses in the field have already had a run in the new season. West To The Bridge is one such horse having blown away the cobwebs at Carlisle a couple of weeks ago. Dan Skelton’s six-year-old should improve for that run so is a worthy favourite as he looks to replicate what was a good last season.
There’s a very good race in prospect next up with the bet365 Mares’ Hurdle. The strongest horses in the field will each be targeted at the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham providing they go well enough in these early stages of the season. Lady Buttons (2/1) and Indegfatiable (9/2) each have prior experience of that big race at Prestbury Park whilst Vision Du Puy (10/3) still has to prove herself following a solid start to her career last season. The winner of this race should come from those three with Indegfatiable getting the nod as she already has a run to her name this season.
The Grade 2 bet365 Hurdle could be one of the most exciting races of the entire weekend. It’s possible to make a case for most of the seven horses in the field even if the bookies are confident enough to make Ballyandy the clear favourite at a general price of 2/1.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ six-year-old is entitled to improve from a rather underwhelming first start of the campaign last time out but he will certainly need to be better to see off the challenge of Lord Napier. Peter Bowen’s six-year-old must be at his very best to win which won’t be easy on his seasonal reappearance but he’d still return nicely from just a place so an each way bet looks in order.
The plans for many of those in the field for the Charlie Hall Chase will include a trip to Aintree in April. Definity Red is one of those who is about to embark on a long journey to the Grand National and he can start his season on the same positive note he started the last two at Wetherby. After finishing third in this Grade 2 in 2017, he returned to win it last year and there’s every chance he can maintain his strong record with another win at 9/2 with 888Sport.
