Horse Racing Tips Today – Saturday 14th September 2019
1:50 at Doncaster – A Momentofmadness to win at 12/1
The Portland Handicap is one of the most exciting cards of the entire St Leger Festival. It’s a 5½f handicap which will feature a full complement of 22 horses sprinting for the line. Winning the Portland requires pace first and foremost but also the heart not to be put off by so many rivals. A Momentofmadness has what it takes having won this contest 12 months ago. He’s not been at his best since but showed glimpses of returning to form last time out and is off 5lb lower than last year and can make the most of that mark.
2:25 at Doncaster – Shine So Bright to win at 11/8
Shine So Bright heads to Doncaster having been well backed to be the first three-year-old winner of the Park Stakes for four years. Andrew Balding’s colt was unable to make an impact in the 2000 Guineas but has since shown some very good form having been dropped back down to 7f.
That looks his optimum trip at least for the time being as it allows him to lead from the front and take the race away from his opponents. With just five competitiors in the Park Stakes another impressive display of front running should see him land another Group 2.
3:00 at Doncaster – Royal Crusade to win at 7/2
Threat is the firm favourite for the Group 2 Pommery Champagne Stakes. Trainer, Richard Hannon, and all connected with the colt are very excited about what the future holds for this most promising of juveniles but those who believe this race is a foregone conclusion may well be in for a surprise.
Royal Crusade is lurking just in behind the favourite at 7/2 with Paddy Power. He’s made just the one appearance to date when a 5/6 favourite at in a Newmarket novice. That he won so comfortably despite looking green susggests he’ll improve for that run and that he represents good value.
3:35 at Doncaster – Logician to win at evens with RaceBets
The build up to the St Leger has been particularly exciting this year as racing fans are hopeful of a big performance from Logician, a horse who could be a real star of the staying division in the next couple of years just like his stablemate, Stradivarius.
Of course, Stradivarius didn’t win the St Leger and Logician has some hardy, proven stayers to beat. He just looks the classiest horse in the field and is big and powerful enough to suggest he’ll love the trip and you can be certain he’ll get a good ride with Frankie Dettori on board going for his sixth win in the St Leger.
