Who will finish in the top six in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe?
A very good question, and obviously if we knew the answer to that one we’d be keeping hush and getting our own predictions in! In all seriousness though, while this is clearly a tough thing to predict, there are already a few likely contenders to finish in the top six at Longchamp.
The likes of John Gosden’s Golden Horn, for instance, has to be fancied after winning the Irish Champion Stakes on Saturday at Leopardstown, the colt’s sixth win from seven starts. Stablemate Jack Hobbs, who won the Irish Derby and was second in the Epsom version, also holds strong claims.
The winner of the last two renewals, Treve, clearly has to be respected, especially given the wonder-mare has won all three of her races since, and she is the strong bookies’ favourite. So that’s three.
Other fancies for a top six finish include Aidan O’Brien’s Found, who was second in the Champion Stakes at Leopardstown and who won a Group 1 at Longchamp last October. While Dermot Weld’s Free Eagle and Irish three-year-old Erupt complete our sextet.
Of course, getting them in the correct order is a different task altogether, so we best get earning our coins to get the various combinations covered!
