Horse Racing Tips Today – Saturday 15th February 2020

  • 1:50 at Ascot – Two For Gold to Win at 11/2 with Ladbrokes

The Sodexo Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase is a leading trial for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham and we have some real contenders for that big novices’ chase in the field for Saturday’s Grade 2. Whether any of them can kick on to win at Cheltenham remains to be seen. Indeed, this is no gimmer for any of the top three of Pym, Copperhead or Sam Brown. Not with Two For Gold in the field. This is a step up in class for Kim Bailey’s seven-year-old but recent performances suggest he’s ready for it.

  • 2:25 at Ascot – Red Indian Each Way at 10/1 with bet365

This is the 10th edition of the Keltbray Swinley Chase. The previous nine have shown that this is a competitive handicap which regularly pits together staying chasers of real quality. The field for this year’s renewal suggests another exciting race whilst the betting provides plenty of value including the 10/1 that bet365 are quoting about Red Indian’s chances. He is sure to come on for his first run of the season last month where he faded in the latter stages and is well treated by the handicapper.

  • 3:00 at Ascot – Jolly’s Cracked It Each Way at 12/1 with Paddy Power

There’s another competitive handicap next up in which an each way bet looks the wisest play. The Give The Gift Of Ascot Annual Membership Handicap Hurdle has produced three winners at a bigger price than the 12/1 you can get on Jolly’s Cracked It’s chances. The 11-year-old showed that he is not ready to retire just yet with his best run for some time last month at Ascot. That was his first appearance since having wind surgery in November. If that surgery has given him a new lease of life as it appeared, he could well finally get his first win at 2½ miles.

The Betfair Ascot Chase is the big race of the weekend so it’s a real shame to see just four horses lining up for this Grade 1. It still has a role to play as an important contest in the context of the build up to Cheltenham with punters very keen to see how strong or otherwise Cyrname looks. A big run here could see Paul Nicholls send Cyrname to another clash with Altior in the Champion Chase. The odds on favourite should win, how well he wins is another question entirely.
